Players have the option of adding an address to a game for automatic sharing after the gift exchange has been completed. This gives players the address of the person who won their gift, saving time & coordination after the game is done. Whether or not an address is required for a specific game (or collected at all) will be determined by the Game Lead/Admin for your group.
Please note that addresses are stored on a game level (rather than account level). If you are playing in multiple games, you will need to enter your address for each of them if you want to have an address on file. This allows you to have different addresses for different games if necessary (i.e. one for work and one for personal).
Adding your address
If your Game Lead/Admin has made adding an address either optional or required for your game, you follow the instructions below:
-
Log in to White Elephant Online and navigate to your dashboard
-
Click on your game in the "Your Games" section
-
On the top right side of the screen, click on the "Add Your Address" button
-
In the pop-up window, start typing your address in the Search for Address field
-
Click on your address once it is displayed and it will auto-fill all of the fields to ensure there are no typos
-
Click Save at the top
You can hover over the "Add Your Address" button at any point to see whether adding an address is required or optional for your game.
Editing or Deleting your address
Once you’ve added an address, the “Add your Address” button will change to “Edit Your Address”. You can click on this button at any time to edit your address for this game. You can also come back here if you wish to delete your address.
Who your address is shared with
If you add your address to a game, your address will only be shared with whoever’s gift you win (so that they can mail it to you), as well as any Game Admins in your group.
White Elephant Online does not sell personal information to third parties. You can always read our full privacy policy here.
For Game Leads and Game Admins
As a Game lead/Admin, you can decide whether or not to require your players to add an address on a per game basis. If you decide to require an address, players will not be able to check-in and play the game until they have submitted both a gift and an address. You can also make providing an address optional so that players can decide whether or not they are comfortable doing so. Finally, you can choose to hide the "Add your Address" button altogether if you don't want players to add addresses. This can be managed via the dropdown underneath your Gift Distribution option selection in the Edit Game popup.
The Gift Distribution options that provide the option to add an address are:
- #1 Players will purchase & ship gift themselves: If you collect addresses, the end of game summary and the post-game e-mail to players will display the address of the gift recipient
- #3 Participants will ship the gift or send an e-gift card based on the recipient’s preference: If you collect addresses, the end of game summary and the post-game e-mail to players will display the address of the gift recipient
- #5 Game organizer will handle gift (or gift card) distribution AND cover the cost: Regardless of whether or not you make adding an address required or optional, the end of game summary and the post-game e-mail to players will not change for players. Addresses will show in the end of game summary CSV export.
- #6 Game organizer will handle gift (or gift card) distribution, but PLAYERS pay: Regardless of whether or not you make adding an address required or optional, the end of game summary and the post-game e-mail to players will not change. However, addresses will show in the end of game summary CSV export.
At any point you can see if a player has added an address by navigating to your game screen and looking at the Player list on the right hand side. Players who have added an address will appear with a green location icon. Players who still need to add an address will appear with a grayed out location icon
